25,000 visits!

This morning our little website has reached a big milestone — wewander.ca has now been visited more than 25,000 times since it went live last year. Wow! Thanks everyone for checking up on us! It’s great to know that so many friends, family and other travelers are keeping tabs on us as we go.

Milestones: 400 days of travel

Another milestone reached — where do the days go? Our Oasis Overland adventure has ended, and our wanderings are now taking us up through Jordan and Syria. Head over to our Breadcrumb page to see our latest routes.

After 400 days:

Average speed over land: 43.5 km/h
Equivalent time spent in transit: 72 days
Fastest mode of transportation: Train (68 km/h average)
Slowest mode of transportation: On foot (2.1 km/h average)
Kilometres left to go: unknown…

One year. Three hundred and sixty-five days. From this end of it, it seems to have flown by, but when we think back on how much we’ve seen and done, I realize how long a year can be. It’s been without a doubt the best year of our lives. Check out the Breadcrumb page to see our latest routes. Here are a few of our latest stats:

Average speed over land: 44.2 km/h
Distance covered in Africa alone: 17,569 km
Number of hours spent in transit (excluding flight): 1581
Total distance covered (excluding flight): 62,678 km (1.57x around the equator)
Average time driving in the Oasis truck per day: 4.5 hrs.

Wow. Three hundred days. I can’t decide if that seems longer or shorter than it feels. We’ve finally fixed a glitch that was preventing us from updating our Breadcrumb, so now you can check out all the routes we’ve been driving along through Africa so far! Here are a few interesting stats on our travels so far:
